King’s Grant Golf and Country Club September News

Golf Course

Dear neighbors,

As many if not all of you are aware, the golf course has been going through a lot of changes over the last 11 months. I am proud to say the course is doing well and getting better every day. The greens have not only survived the long hot summer but have come out in very playable condition. We have had numerous challenges along the way but suffice to say, we are out of the weeds and growing a great golf course for all to enjoy here in the KG community.

We will be over seeding the greens the first week of September and by October 1st, will have the summer stress out of our greens and they will go from good to great. The fairways are amazing and the rough is at a distinguishable height and full. The tee boxes and tee complexes and green surrounds of holes 12-18 have recently gone through a post emergent herbicide treatment and are virtually weed free and responding well to fertilizing. The remaining holes 1-11 will be treated next week.

The irrigation system is on the mend as well, with over 100 heads replaced another fifty-six repaired, twenty-two main line leaks have been dug up and repaired, along with over a thousand feet of drainage pipe installed to release ground water away from the course. There have been ten green loop gate valves that have been replaced as well. As of this writing all but one hole on the front side has irrigation capabilities controllable on the box designated for that hole, which are programmable to varying degrees.

We will be re-sodding several tee boxes and or portions of tee boxes in September. Come out and see the results, I trust you will be proud of your community golf course once again.

I hope your summer has been a great one and you have been enjoying the golf course and participating in the social events hosted by the club and of course the pool.

The club is hosting Nine and Dine every other Thursday, we tee off at 6 pm and eat afterwards. If you choose not to play golf you are cordially invited to join us for dinner. Melissa and Sam never disappoint us with their elaborate meals and decadent desserts.

Beginning in September our teaching staff will be conducting junior and adult golf clinics, on the range and on the course.

Wine tasting event and Bunco by the pool are on the calendar as well as a live band playing at the pavilion in September. Also, we will be rescheduling our Dive-in movie night that was rained out last week.

For dates, times and event information please go to our website at for all event information or call the clubhouse at 630-1111 for further details.

As always, we need your support and continued patronage, we ask that you inquire about membership levels into your course and help us build a better tomorrow for you and your children to enjoy.
